Smatree — we cut cases, action camera accessories and battery charger cases to one machine at a time

Hard shells, sleeves, bags, docks and poles, moulded to one machine at a time. We have been pressing EVA since the first action cameras went in the water, and we still draw a new pattern rather than widen an old one.

What we press

Eleven shelves, sorted by the job the case does. Pick one, then narrow it to the make of your machine.

Smatree laptop case in use

Shells, sleeves, docks and bags

Why people carry Smatree

Three things we will not trade away, whichever machine goes inside.

Moulded, not sewn to a size bracket

We press EVA into a shape and then cut the lining to the machine that goes inside it. A pattern that fits one laptop is a pattern that fits one laptop — we would rather draw a new one than stretch an old one over a wider lid.

Super Corner where a bag lands

Four corners take almost every drop. Ours are built up thicker than the walls, so the shell deforms and comes back instead of folding a crease into the lid of the machine.

One bag instead of two

A charger, a cable roll, a mouse, a pass — the things that end up loose in a tote. Every case here has a place for them, because a case that only holds the machine means you still carry a second bag.

★★★★★Good product and awesome customer service!cvcduty · January 24, 2017

Just received the Q3. Looks solidly made but I have a bit of a concern. I don't won GoPro cameras and I'll be using this mainly with my LG 360 and Gear 360 as well as my Note 4. So I removed the GoPro adapter so I can use this pole by threading it directly to the tripod mount on each of the cameras. I noticed that the thread on the pole side looked bit long. I tried on the LG camera and sure enough, it mounts solidly only by bottoming out on the mount hole on the camera side and not at the end of the pole side threads. I then tried with the cell phone adapter that came in the kit. The pole threads go about 1/8 inch past the end of the hole on the inside. There is a rubber grip that the phone mounts to but since the threads are deforming the floor of the cell phone mount, I'm not sure how securely it will hold. Worse yet, over time the rubber will wear and the sharp thread would come in direct contact with the phones when mounted. Solution would be to simply ground off about 1/8 off the end of the pole side mount threads. But what bothers me is that I just bought this brand new tripod yet I'm not able to fully and safely use it unless I perform modification to shorten the oversized mounting threads. I tried to contact Smatree customer service but all I can find is their Facebook page. I hope someone from Smatree reads these reviews and contacts me. Like I said, the tripod seems well made but for this obviously design flaw. Edit: I was able to contact customer service and their reply was prompt. The agent described a part that was to be installed between the threads on the pole and the phone adapter. It seems that the part is missing in my package so they offered to send me a whole new unit. So overall, I'm very pleased with the purchase experience. Awesome and prompt customer service and like I said in my earlier review the product seems very well made and is backed by the company.

★★★★★A great pack to carry your Phantom 4 series drone in it's OEM foam case!!!Bucky · August 16, 2018

As soon as I opened the package and started to roll out the backpack, I could already tell this was a quality product! The nylon material is thick and sewn together well! There's strategically placed padding to help cushion your drone against your back and ample pockets for additional batteries and gear, and even mesh pockets to hold water bottles or additional gear for quick access. After folding down and velcroing the top compartment floor, my Phantom 4 Pro OEM carry box fit easily and perfectly in the backpack! There's even a small access covered with a flap to unlock/lock the carry box so you can just open it after unzipping the cover panel without having to remove the case out of the pack! Once you have the case in the pack, you can now easily put the padded insert in the top compartment! This is for holding 4 additional batteries if you decide to unfold and Velcro the dividers, or you can use it as a large compartment to hold a CrystalSky or other delicate items. There's a large cargo pocket on the outside of the case cover that's useful for carrying the charger, filters and cords. There's also a narrower slide pocket on both sides of the pack to hold cleaning tissues or documents and credentials, but nothing too bulky. The shoulder straps are nice with a little padding and adjustable. There's an adjustable waist strap to help take some of the strain off your shoulders during longer jaunts. The zippers have convenient pull strings to help ease opening when wearing gloves. I would recommend this pack to anyone who has the Phantom 4 series drone. This pack is made to use and carry the ORIGINAL foam case the Phantom 4s come in, it will NOT work without it!! For the price, this pack has it all!

★★★★★Protects my expensive MacBook Pro from dings and scratchesTariq · June 3, 2026

I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro, and protecting it while traveling and commuting was a top priority. After using the Smatree Hard EVA Protective Sleeve for several weeks, I'm very happy with the purchase. The biggest advantage of this case is the level of protection it provides. Unlike soft fabric sleeves, the hard EVA shell gives me confidence that my laptop is protected from bumps, dings, and accidental impacts while being carried in a backpack or briefcase. I've already had a few instances where my bag was bumped or set down harder than intended, and the case helped keep my MacBook looking brand new. The fit is excellent and holds the laptop securely without being overly tight. The interior lining is soft and does a good job preventing scratches on the aluminum finish. The zipper operates smoothly and feels sturdy enough for daily use. I also appreciate that the case remains relatively lightweight despite the added protection. It doesn't add excessive bulk, which makes it easy to carry and store in larger bags. The overall construction feels durable and well-made, and the case gives the impression that it will hold up well over time. If I had one minor criticism, it's that the hard-shell design takes up slightly more space than a basic sleeve. However, that's a tradeoff I'm happy to make for the added protection. Overall, this is an excellent protective case for anyone who wants to keep their MacBook Pro free from scratches, dents, and everyday wear and tear. It offers a great balance of protection, quality, and portability, and it has given me valuable peace of mind when transporting an expensive laptop.

★★★★★Excellent Protective Laptop SleeveERNEST L VERDIN JR · May 16, 2026

I’m very happy with this Smatree hard EVA protective sleeve. It fits my Lenovo ThinkPad perfectly and provides much better protection than a standard soft laptop case. The hard-shell exterior gives great peace of mind when carrying the laptop in a backpack or during travel. The build quality feels excellent, and the EVA material is sturdy without being overly bulky. It offers strong protection against bumps, pressure, and minor drops while still remaining lightweight and easy to carry around. The inside is lined with a soft material that helps prevent scratches and keeps the laptop secure. One thing I really appreciated was the precise fit for compatible ThinkPad models. The laptop stays snug inside without sliding around, and the zipper feels smooth and durable. It has a clean, professional appearance that works well for work, school, or travel. The sleeve also feels very well-made overall, with reinforced edges and quality stitching that make it seem like it will last a long time. It’s a huge upgrade over basic fabric sleeves and gives much more confidence when transporting an expensive laptop. What I liked most: Strong hard-shell EVA protection Lightweight but durable design Soft interior prevents scratches Perfect snug fit for compatible ThinkPad models Smooth, sturdy zipper Great for travel and everyday use Overall, this is an excellent laptop sleeve for anyone wanting reliable protection without adding too much bulk. It combines durability, portability, and a professional look at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend for ThinkPad users looking for extra protection while traveling or commuting.

★★★★★#1 Mavic Charger! Look no further!MWL · September 28, 2017

Charging batteries is the least fun part of owning a drone, and the battery charging hub for the DJI Mavic Pro by Smatree is a step forward! Let’s start with the bad. The Smatree charger only has 3 charging ports compared to DJI hub which has 4. However, the very common accessory pack from DJI only includes 3 batteries, so this really isn’t a negative. Now for the good (e.i. everything else)! The biggest selling point is the reduced charging time. Similar to the DJI hub, only one battery is charged at a time, however I was timing most batteries at about 33 minutes on the Smatree, compared to ~45 minutes on DJI hub. These were not 0-100% charge times, but rather ~20%-100% since the drones low-battery warning are around this percentage. This is due to Smatree’s included 80W AC adapter versus DJI’s 50W (although you can use a 100W Phantom AC adapter to reduce charging times). The next big improvement is USB port, which conveniently resides on the hub itself, rather than the charging brick. The USB port not only charges the device faster (2.4A vs 2.0A), but it also allows you to charge directly off the batteries which requires a separate accessory from DJI. My final praise for the Smatree hub, are the battery status lights – a small, but useful feature missing from the DJI hub. When you consider that the Smatree hub essentially replaced the DJI Charging Hub ($39), the Power Bank Adapter ($19), and the Phantom 4 100W charger ($55) to compete with Smatree’s charging times, it is an incredible deal.

Battery Charger for Mavic Pro/Platinum

Who we are at Smatree

We are a carrying-gear workshop. Everything on this site is something you put a machine into — a shell, a sleeve, a bag, a dock, a pole. We have been moulding EVA since the first action cameras started going underwater, and the discipline that came out of that work is the one we still use on laptop shells: press a shape, cut the lining to one device, and refuse to pretend a size bracket is a fit.

Where we started

Action cameras. Small, expensive, and carried in exactly the places where things get dropped. The first cases we built were moulded hollows for a camera body, a spare battery and a handful of mounts, and that is still the pattern we use when we lay out any interior — one hollow, one object, no rattle.

What we build now

The catalogue has grown outward from that first shell. Hard cases that fold into a stand, sleeves cut to a single laptop, tablet shells with room for a folio and a stylus, charging docks that park a headset and its controllers overnight, backpacks and shoulder bags sized around the machine first. The method did not change — only the thing being measured.

Smatree action camera accessories, battery charger cases and charging docks

Before we cut a single laptop shell we made accessories for action cameras, and that side of our workshop is still busy. Our action camera accessories cover GoPro HERO bodies, DJI Osmo Action and DJI Osmo Pocket, and Insta360 cameras: protective cases with cut foam, floating hand grips, telescopic poles, adapters for tripod threads and the small mount accessories that go missing in a sports bag. Each one is designed for a named body, so accessories bought for an Osmo Action fit an Osmo Action and nothing has to be bent to make it work.

Charging is the other half of the kit. A GoPro or Insta360 battery charger case keeps spare cells in slots, charging them from one power input while the case doubles as storage; our charging docks do the same for headsets, controllers and drone batteries. Charging in slots runs cooler than charging in a pile, which is why the cells last. Customers who film sports and travel tend to pick up the charging case together with the protective case, and that pairing is how we lay out the shelves.

Electronics this small need reliable storage more than they need padding, and travel electronics need it most. Key information sits on every page — which devices a case was cut for, what goes inside, how charging works — and that information comes from the bench, not from a size chart. Security for the kit comes from the fit: EVA designed around cut hollows, spare adapters held in their own pocket, keys and cables kept off the lens, a reliable zip, no power brick rattling loose. Smatree accessories, Smatree charging docks and Smatree cases follow one rule, and customers come back for it: the hollow matches the thing.

How we cut a pattern

A case starts with the machine on a bench and a tape across it. We measure the body, then the lid, then the gap a port cover adds, then the swell a rubber foot puts under the base. The pattern is drawn around those numbers rather than around a round diagonal, which is why two cases on this site that both say the same inch count are not the same case.

The gap is the whole job

A machine that slides half an inch inside its own case arrives with a dented lid. Clearance is what we spend the most time on — enough to get the laptop in and out one-handed, not enough for it to move once the zip is closed.

Corners first

Super Corner reinforcement sits in the four places a dropped bag actually lands. The walls are stiff; the corners are stiffer. It costs material and it costs mould time, and it is the single thing most responsible for a shell surviving a tiled hallway.

Lining you cannot see

The inside is brushed rather than woven rough. Over a year, a coarse lining leaves a haze of fine scratches on a lid — the kind nobody notices until the machine is sold. Ours does not.

Shelves, and how to read them

We sort by what the thing is, not by who makes the machine. A hard shell is a hard shell whether the laptop inside it came from one maker or another, so the brand of your machine is a filter rather than a section. Pick the shelf that matches the job, then narrow it to your make.

Hard shells and stand cases

The stiff end of the catalogue. Moulded EVA, Super Corner reinforcement, and on the MS and T series a lid that folds back into a wedge so the machine sits at a typing angle on a café table.

Sleeves and UrbanEdge

Thinner, quieter, cut to one machine. UrbanEdge keeps the hard inner shell and wraps it in a flat outer skin that reads as a folio instead of a camera case — the same protection, a different room to walk into.

Cameras, drones and poles

Moulded hollows for bodies, arms, lenses and spare cells, floating grips that do not sink, and telescopic poles whose locking collars bite on a wet hand. This is the shelf our oldest patterns live on.

Charging, bags and small shells

Docks that empty a desk overnight, packs and shoulder bags built around a laptop well, and the small moulded cases for earbuds, a stylus, a mini desktop and the cables that follow them around.

Fit, not size

Nearly every return in this category comes from the same place: a number on a box matched to a number in a listing. A diagonal describes a screen, not a body, and bezels have been shrinking for a decade. We publish the machines each case was measured against and we would rather you check twice than guess once.

Filtering a shelf

Every shelf carries a row of chips across the top — the laptop and camera makes we cut patterns for. Tapping one narrows the shelf to cases that were measured against that make, which is usually a faster route than reading titles.

When the fit is borderline

If your machine is a half-step outside what a page names, measure it and compare it with the internal dimensions we list. A protective skin or a thin screen cover is fine. A second hard shell already fitted to the lid is not — the case is cut to the bare machine.

What we do not do

We do not make the machines. We do not sell a universal case and call it a fit. We do not pad a listing with a season's worth of colours that are the same shell in different dye. If a pattern is not meaningfully different from one we already press, we do not press it.

No universal sizes

A sleeve sold as a range is a sleeve that fits nothing in the range properly. Where you see a size on this site it is attached to a list of machines, and that list is the actual product.

No dry-bag promises

Our shells shed rain on the walk from the car to the door. Several are built to float. None of them are dry bags, and we will not describe them as waterproof to win a line on a comparison table.

How we test

The way you will use it. Bag on the floor of a train, bag in the boot with a toolkit, bag set down hard on a tiled hallway, pack loaded and carried for a full day. The parts that fail first — hinges, strap anchors, locking collars, zip sliders — are the parts we overbuild, because they are the parts that come back.

The seams that tear

On any bag it is the strap anchor. Ours are riveted through a doubled panel, which is more work than stitching into a single layer and is the reason a full bag stays on the shoulder.

The hinges that sag

A hard case lives or dies on its hinge. Ours is reinforced along the full length so the shell stays square when the lid is open — otherwise a stand case stops standing after a season.

Buying one

Every page here links out to the listing where that exact item is sold. We do not take the order, hold your card or ship the parcel — the store does all three, and the order page you get afterwards is the thread to pull on if anything needs changing.

Returns and warranty

Our manufacturing warranty stands behind every case we press. Claims and returns run through the order page of the store you bought from, because they hold the record of the purchase and can settle it without a second conversation.

Stock and prices

Both move, and both belong to the store rather than to us. What we keep current here is the catalogue itself — which patterns exist, what they are cut for, and what is actually inside them.

Who we build for

People who carry one machine every day and would rather it lasted the full replacement cycle, and people who carry a camera kit into places that are hard on equipment. Different shelves, same argument: the case should be cut to the thing, and the thing should not move inside it.

Talking to us

Fit questions are the ones worth sending. Tell us the exact model of your machine and what you need the case to survive, and we will tell you which pattern was drawn for it — or that we have not drawn one yet, which happens more often than a catalogue this size suggests.

Questions we get

What does Smatree actually make?

Carrying gear, and only carrying gear. Hard EVA shells and sleeves for laptops and tablets, moulded cases for action cameras and folding drones, telescopic poles and grips, charging docks for headsets and camera cells, backpacks and shoulder bags. We have never made a camera — we make the thing the camera travels in.

How do I know a case fits my machine?

Match the model, not the diagonal. A fourteen inch laptop from one maker is a different rectangle from a fourteen inch laptop from another, and our patterns are cut to the rectangle. Every page here names the machines the case was measured against, and every shelf can be filtered down to one brand.

Why hard shells instead of padded sleeves?

A padded sleeve spreads a knock. A moulded shell refuses it. If your machine lives in a backpack with a water bottle and a set of keys, the shell is what keeps the keys from reaching the lid. If it lives on a desk and travels twice a year, a soft sleeve is honestly enough.

Is EVA the same thing as hard plastic?

No. EVA is a closed-cell foam pressed hot into a mould — stiff enough to stand on a shelf empty, soft enough to take an impact and return to shape. A rigid plastic box cracks where EVA dents. That is the whole reason we have moulded it since the first action cameras went in the water.

Do you sell the cameras and laptops too?

We do not. We cut cases for machines other people build, which is why our catalogue is organised by what goes inside rather than by what we felt like making this season.

Where do I go if something goes wrong?

To the order page of the store you bought from. They hold the record of the purchase, so they can settle a replacement or a return fastest — and our manufacturing warranty stands behind whatever they decide.
